A Design with a Spine

Noe Valley Victorian Remodel with a Twist

A feature wall that defines the spatial relationship between the interior living spaces and the exterior decks and stairs serves as the unifying concept for our addition and remodeling of this Victorian home in San Francisco’s Noe Valley. This spine wall organizes the layout, with the new kitchen, library/dining room, and powder room on one side, and a new deck, exterior stairs, and catwalk on the other. The catwalk enabled the installation of a series of French doors that flood the kitchen with natural light. Strategically placed kitchen windows frame views and further emphasize the architectural significance of the spine wall. The project also included a new powder room on the main floor and a new primary bathroom on the upper floor. Interior details feature cherry cabinetry, black granite countertops, slate flooring, glass mosaic tile backsplashes, steel flatbar railings, and stainless steel art niches.
